For Republicans across Ireland it has been sickening this week to hear Mary Lou McDonald and Michelle O’Neill attempt to take the moral high ground on their u-turn on the White House Patrick’s Day event.
Far from a principled boycott of US imperialism, the truth is Sinn Féin has been shamed into taking this position through the actions of the Republican base over the last 12 months following their shameful decision to attend last year’s event at the height of the Zionist/US/British campaign of Genocide in Palestine.
Since that time Republican Activists have been highlighting Sinn Féin’s pro imperialist stance on Palestine, have taken direct actions at their offices like shown in the photo and their speakers have been hacked while speaking at Palestinian events. Even within their own grassroots their has been strong condemnation of their attendance last year and there can be little doubt the action of Republicans is what has motived the Sinn Féin U-turn.
The Sinn Féin Leadership has long since sold out the struggle for National Liberation, both in Ireland and Palestine.
At a time when Sinn Féin administers British Rule in Ireland and overseas the harassment and imprisonment of Irish Republicans, they meets with Zionist Settler Colonists. They refused to call for the Zionist ambassador to be expelled from Ireland and has never voiced support for the Resistance, instead backing the Pro Zionist Palestinian Administration, championing calls for a ceasefire, which in reality was a championing of a 2 state Palestine.
Ireland and Palestine Occupied and Partitioned countries, with colonial administrations serving the interests of Imperialism. Sinn Féin has long since become the lapdog of Imperialism in Ireland and bends the knee to monarch and international capitalism.
No one should be fooled by their current media strategy. No one should praise their u-turn but instead praise the Irish Republican Activists Across the country who called Sinn Féin out on their pro Imperialist line and made the U-turn happen.
