Anti-Imperialist Action Ireland and socialist Republican supporters organise a 10-day rolling solidarity fast in support of the the revolutionary music group Grup Yorum.
Grup Yorum members have been on hunger strike for over 300 days, due to repression by the fattest Turkish state involving: imprisonment of musicians, ban on concerts, smashing of instruments and destroying cultural centres.
Tragically, two band members from the music group became martyrs after succumbing to their death fast
Socialists and Republicans in Ireland have the deepest respect for the revolutionaries struggling in Turkey. That Grup Yorum ended their death fast on the same day Bobby Sands succumbs to martyrdom in 1981 shows how intertwined and universal the struggles are.
