This Week In Struggle

Despite the ongoing restrictions imposed by British Imperialism and the Free State Garrison Class in response to the Coronavirus, Irish Socialist Republicans continue to agitate, educate and organise in our communities for National Liberation and Socialist Revolution.

The following is a brief round up of some of the main, but by no means all, of the activism our members and supporters engaged in this week:

Resisting The Brit Occupation

As British Imperialists attempt to use the public health pandemic to move its occupation army back to front line duties in Ireland, Socialist Republicans were quick to respond, raising opposition to the move in Republican Communities, with posters going up across the occupied Six Counties. Irish Socialist Republicans will continue to combat and resist the illegal British Occupation of Ireland.

Honouring Ireland’s Patriot Dead

On Wednesday April 15, Anti Imperialist Action Ireland brought this years annual Easter Commemorations to a close with a wreath laying in Milltown Cemetery, Belfast at the grave of legendary Socialist Republican IRA Volunteer Joe McCann. This year marked another major milestone in the development of AIA, with Easter Commemorations being held in all four provinces for the first time. (Full Report to follow soon)

Revolutionary Youth Face Censorship

This week Macradh ISR Youth, the Revolutionary Youth Movement faced censorship when it’s Facebook platform was unpublished. Facebook claimed actions to remember Republican Martyrs breeched their community standards but failed to silence the Revolutionary Youth. A spokesperson for the group said, ‘Such petty action will not silence or deter Macradh or the wider Socialist Republican Movement from pursuing our Revolutionary Objectives And Macradh will continue to organise where it matters, on the streets and in our communities.’

Socialist Republican Radio Launches New Format

This week our online radio platform, Socialist Republican Radio, returned with a new format. Taking advantage of the current conditions the new format includes live interviews and a round table discussion on topics with key relevance to the Revolutionary Movement in Ireland. Stop the Cull- Protect Our Elderly!

As British Imperialism and the Free State Garrison Class continue to stand idly by while the Coronavirus runs rampant in nursing homes, and as it has been revealed that the HSE refers to elderly residents of nursing homes with the virus as ‘dirty’, Anti Imperialist Action has taken direct action to raise the plight of the elderly, erecting a series of posters at nursing homes in Chapelizod and the Phoenix Park where there had been a high level of Coronavirus deaths in the past two weeks.

Shame on the Garrison Class and the HSE for allowing our elderly to die! Stop the cull! We demand adequate medical care for our elderly now!

Combat and Resist Exploitation!

On Saturday April 18, Socialist Republicans took direct action in support of exploited workers that have been laid off without pay.

Recently, we reported that the Moriarty Group, owned by Fianna Fáil Businessman Luke Moriarty and family, had let go hotel workers, refusing to pay wages and informing staff to apply for jobs in the SuperValu shops owned by the group.

Despite restrictions, Socialist Republicans engaged in a direct action in support of the workers, by pasting the posters pictured below on the windows and doors of the Moriarty Groups SuperValu in Palmerstown, South West Dublin. The message is simple: PAY YOUR WORKERS!

There can be no tolerance shown to those that would exploit and oppress the Working Class or acceptance of profiteering during this crisis. Anti Imperialist Action will continue to stand with and take action on behalf of exploited workers.

Combat and Resist Capitalism and Imperialism! Take on the Parasites!
