Volunteers Terence MacSwiney and Joe Murphy honoured across Ireland on their 100th Anniversary

IRA Hungerstrikers Terence MacSwiney and Joe Murphy were honoured by Socialist Republicans at events across Ireland to mark the 100th Anniversary of their deaths in the fight for National Liberation. Events were held by Anti Imperialist Action Ireland in Dublin, South Armagh and Wicklow.

Dublin:

In Dublin, a wreath laying at the Hungerstrike Monument in Glasnevin Cemetery.

The event was addressed by guest speaker Diarmuid Breatnach, who also sang a rousing rendition of the Boys of Kilmichael.

A minutes silence and salute was held to honour all who have fought and died for the All Ireland People’s Republic.

South Armagh:

In South Armagh, Socialist Republicans markets the Anniversary at the Hungerstrike monument in Crossmaglen. Respects to the 22 Irish Republicans who gave their lives on hunger strike for the Irish Republic.

Arklow:

Anti Imperialist Action Activists in Arklow County Wicklow gathered to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the death on Hungerstrike of IRA Commandant Terence MacSwiney at the Irish Republican Memorial Stone on the Emoclew rd, Arklow.

The courage of MacSwiney continues to inspire all those who continue to fight for the All Ireland People’s Republic today.

North Wicklow:

Anti Imperialists in North Wicklow gathered to Mark the 100th Anniversary of IRA Hungerstrikers Terence MacSwiney and Joe Murphy with a wreath laying at the 1916 monument in Greystones.

The struggle for the All Ireland People’s Republic continues and is the only fitting monument to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to achieve it.
