Vol. Ronan McLoughlin Remembered

Members of Anti Imperialist Action Ireland held a wreathlaying earlier today in Ashford County Wicklow in honour of IRA Volunteer Ronan McLoughlin, who was killed by Free State forces on this day in 1998.

Ronan was the first IRA Volunteer killed on Active Service following the signing of Britain’s Good Friday Treaty in Ireland, a treaty that copperfastened British Rule.

As a dedicated Republican, Ronan rejected the British Imperialist Treaty and contined to fight for a soverign, Independent, All Ireland Republic as proclaimed in 1916.

On the 25th Anniversary of Volunteer Ronan McLouglins killing AIA sends our solidarity to his family, his friends and comrades. We hope that the fact that Ronan’s example continues to inspire new generations of Revolutionary Republicans brings comfort on this day.
